Hello all, brand new to the forum. I really wanna start trail Running this fall. I'm a long time runner and competitive powerlifter. Getting to the point where I don't really enjoy powerlifting anymore, and wanna try something new. I've always been a runner, and now I wanna expand on that. I currently run in Merrell Vapor Glove, and I'm looking for some advice on some good trail shoes that don't cost a bunch. Look forward to hearing from you all! Thanks! |

Not sure, but I've dabbled in both powerlifting and running as well. |

What do you consider too expensive? I prefer Altra. Several of our HS athletes like Hoka. Salomon seems popular as well. |

I like Hoka and Altra but really, I wish those two brands could get married and have kids, because I think Hoka cushioning is superior -- it lasts a LOT longer and feels better -- and I like Hoka's tread and gripping ability -- but I love the fit of Altras. Altra's foot shape is the most sensible way to design a shoe, if you can get used to zero drop along with it. Hokas tend to be too narrow. |
